5 tips for healthy feet

In today's article, we look at how you can do a simple summer foot treatment in the comfort of your own home. You'll learn simple tips and tutorials for at-home pedicures, nail care, heel care, and also how the right footwear affects foot health. The result will be beautifully manicured feet that you can just slip on your barefoot sandals and start enjoying summer in perfect style.

First of all, let's take a look at why foot care is so important. It doesn't just affect their appearance, but also their health. Here are some tips and recommendations on how you can treat your feet at home and keep them in good condition:

  1. BATH: Prepare a relaxing foot bath: Pour warm water into a foot container and add a few teaspoons of sea salt, a few drops of essential oils (e.g. lavender, eucalyptus, mint) or herbal tea (e.g. chamomile, sage). Soak your feet in the bath and let them rest for 10-15 minutes.

  2. PEELING: After the bath, use a foot scrub. You don't need to buy one, you can make your own by mixing coarse salt or sugar with olive or coconut oil. Massage the skin of your feet in circular motions, thoroughly removing dead skin cells. You can also use a scraper to remove hard parts of the skin, especially on the heels and around the toes. If you want your heels to be smooth and crack-free, we recommend regular heel treatments.

  3. NAILS: Trim your nails to the desired length and use a nail file to trim them. If they are soft or brittle, you can strengthen them with a natural oil such as almond oil, vitamin E or castor oil. Choose a natural nail polish or leave your nails unpolished to help them breathe and stay healthy. Make sure you get enough calcium and vitamin D in your diet, as these nutrients help strengthen them.

  4. WRAP: Apply a moisturizing wrap or make a homemade foot mask. For example, you can mix ripe mashed banana with honey and a little lemon juice. Apply this mixture to the soles of the feet, wrap in a microtene bag and leave on for about 15-20 minutes. Then rinse with water and pat dry.

  5. HYDRATION: After rinsing off the wrap, apply a moisturizer or butter that contains natural ingredients such as beeswax, coconut oil or shea butter to the soles of the feet. These ingredients help to keep the skin on your feet moisturized and soft. Massage in well with circular motions. This step will help moisturize the skin and relieve tension.

In case of problems with the nails or the skin of the feet, such as nail ridges, cracks, cura or fungus, it is important to seek professional advice from a doctor or a pedicurist. Don't ignore any unusual symptoms as they could signal a health problem.

In addition to foot care itself, wearing the right footwear is also important. Wearing the wrong shoes can cause foot deformities, abrasions, blisters, cramps, swelling and other problems. Shoes that conform to the natural shape of the foot, allow flexibility and provide adequate support for the arch of the foot are ideal.

Barefoot footwear, is designed to minimize compression on the foot and allow it to move freely and naturally.

Remember that foot care should be regular and addressed year round, not just during the summer months. Healthy and well-groomed feet will give you comfort, a nice appearance and better mobility.
