Which type of foot do you have?

We know many different types of feet and each of them has its own distinctive features. They differ not only in size, but also in the shape of the toes and the arch. In this article, we will look at the different types of feet with an emphasis on the most common - the Egyptian type, which inspired us in the development of SHAPEN barefoot shoes.

Feet are a miracle of nature that allows us to walk on a daily basis. Each of us has a unique shape to our feet. These are classified into groups based on common characteristics. In general, we recognize 5 types of feet - Egyptian, Greek, Roman, Germanic and Celtic.

Egyptian type: its characteristic feature is a more pronounced long toe. The other toes gradually and in one straight line slope down to the little toe. The Egyptian type of foot is considered to be the most beautiful. According to a study by Ogawa and Hyakusoku, people with the Egyptian foot type are least prone to problems with ingrown toenails. It is one of the most prevalent and is shared by approximately 70% of the population.

It was this foot type that inspired us to develop the SHAPEN barefoot shoe, which combines the uniqueness of the Egyptian foot type with modern technology. As a result, they provide the ultimate comfort and protection for your feet.

For people with the Greek foot type, shoes with a wide enough forefoot and more room for the dominant toe are ideal. The Greek foot type has a dominant second toe, which tends to be the longest. Owners of this type of foot must choose shoes that are just right for the longer toe in order to provide enough room for it.

For people with the Roman foot type, shoes with a wide and sufficiently deep toe area are suitable, as the toes tend to be rather large and on the same level as the other toes in this foot type.

For people with a Germanic foot type, shoes with a wide forefoot and plenty of room for all the toes are ideal. In the Germanic foot type, the main and second toes are usually the same length, but there may be minor variations.

The last type of foot is the Celtic, which has similar characteristics to the Germanic type, but tends to be slightly narrower at the front. For owners of the Celtic foot type, a shoe with a moderately wide forefoot and plenty of room for all toes is suitable.
