Caring for barefoot ballet flats PEONY
To maintain the velvet-like appearance and long life of your ballet flats, we recommend regular and gentle care. Remove dust and everyday dirt from suede first with a dry cleaning cube. For deep cleaning and refreshing material, use a cleaning foam, which you wipe off completely after application.
Do not use creams or oils on suede, so that the material retains its typical structure and does not become greasy. For revitalizing the color and for protection, we recommend using a special spray for velours and nubuck. For maximum protection from dust and moisture, we recommend impregnating the ballet flats before the first wear. Ballet flats treated this way will maintain their flawless condition and accompany you at every step.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
SHAPEN barefoot shoes are the ideal choice especially for the "Egyptian" foot type, characterized by a dominant big toe as the longest digit. Thanks to their anatomical shape, they provide the big toe with ample space without any unwanted pressure.

We will be happy to advise you! Please send us a message at [email protected]. Don’t forget to include your foot measurements or a photo of your foot measurement, along with the name of the SHAPEN model you are interested in.

You can easily read the proper and reliable method for measuring your foot in our article How to Measure Your Foot Correctly, where you will find all the necessary steps and tips.
-
If you find yourself between two sizes, it’s usually best to choose the larger size for more comfort and to provide some toe allowance (oversize). Any extra space can be adjusted using insoles.
However, if you prefer a snugger fit, you may opt for the smaller size, depending on your personal preference for extra room in your shoes. For more personalized advice, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at [email protected].
-
Toe allowance, also called “oversize,” is the extra space you leave between your longest toe and the end of the shoe to ensure comfort and natural movement. For SHAPEN shoes, the recommended toe allowance varies by model - you can find the specific oversize at the bottom of each size chart.
For enclosed shoes (such as winter shoes and trainers), the recommended toe allowance is 8 to 12 mm.
For sandals, a generally smaller oversize of 3 to 5 mm is recommended.
For open sandals, the oversize is usually between 5 to 10 mm.
Choosing the right toe allowance helps prevent discomfort and optimizes the fit.

Care depends on the material of the upper.
Smooth leather:
Simply wipe your shoes with a damp cloth, then allow them to dry. Once dry, apply a suitable leather balm or beeswax. Regular polishing helps prevent cracking, maintains the surface, and preserves the leather’s original quality.
Nubuck or suede (velour):
These materials require cleaning only when dry - never clean them with water as you would with smooth leather. Use special brushes or abrasive sponges designed for suede or nubuck. These shoes also need special care products to restore their color and refresh the material.
